Happy New Year!
2016 was a pretty memorable year, and also pretty challenging for Kieran and I!
We began the year completely merry on Champagne singing Auld Lang Syne on our front lawn watching fireworks. Then we had the craziest year I think we’ve ever faced together. Woopy was spayed, Kieran had his appendix removed for Valentines Day, we celebrated our hen and stag parties and Woopy turned one in May and we threw her a party!
We got married in summer on the most perfect day, went on a holiday of a lifetime to Florida for our honeymoon and experienced some of the most wonderful things we’ve ever done – swimming with dolphins, stroking sharks, riding the Hogwarts Express and travelling half way around the world together!
As it drew to autumn, I plucked up the courage to share this blog, we replaced our fire with a beautifully cosy gas one, I broke my arm, changed my job role, and Kieran had an accident resulting in our car being written off! Kieran also received an award for the amazing and overwhelmingly beautiful work he does every day and I am so unbelievably proud of him.
We finally settled down for Christmas and it was definitely a magical one – we did the most festive things throughout the month and welcomed our friends beautiful little baby to the world. And then we saw out 2016 in our family traditional way – champagne, Big Ben and fireworks on the lawn!
After everything that happened last year, I look back now and think – it wasn’t so bad really. Because even through every curve ball that was thrown at us (and there was a fair few things more than what I’ve listed!), we managed to laugh together after we cried. We managed to fix everything together and with our families and friends that support us. And having the not so great things happen, for me, makes all the wonderful parts shine out even more.
Saying that, I aim to have a much quieter new year! I hope 2017 brings as much joy as last year but without so many ups and downs! A steady speed would make a nice change.
I normally don’t bother making new years resolutions but this year I thought I’d do something different and give it a go. I thought I would share my new years resolutions with you, and hopefully that will make me stick to them!
Blog More. Now that I have the courage to write my blog and share it, I plan to do it as often as I can because whether it’s read or not, it’s an enjoyable outlet.
Eat more healthy. We do eat pretty healthy however I could open up a sweet shop with the amount of treats we’ve gathered in our cupboard this year!
Stress Less! Anyone who knows me well will know that I take things quite to heart and will run myself ragged trying to achieve something, normally tasks that I’ve set myself to work on in the first place. My best is good enough, anything else is a bonus.
Make more time for myself. The hoovering can hang on until the morning and I do not need to blitz every room in my house in a day. I’ve started to really enjoy taking a hot bath with beautiful bath products and catch up on a show – this is my me time. I think I will vow to give myself that hour or so relaxing in the bath every week.
Exercise more with Woopy!I take Woopy for a walk every day but I think this year, when I have the weekend off, I will plan to take Woopy for a really long walk and hopefully discover a couple of new places. It’s good for me, and it’s even better for her. She loves nothing more than being let off the lead to explore a new forest area or run like a Greyhound for miles.
I think that’s enough for now. If ever I’m unsure, I can check back to this list to remind myself why I’m doing something! What are you planning this year? What ever it is, make sure it’s brilliant.
