Valentine’s day is just a week away now so it’s time to make sure you have your gift ready for your loved one. Whether you plan to splash out on something extravagant or want to show your love in a simpler way, I hope you find an idea here! (Take note Kieran haha).
£5 to £50 Gifts
1. Mason Jar Gifts
Whether its filled with his luxury beard oils, or a pamper kit for her, a jar full of favourite treats is an ideal gift for anyone. George at Asda stock some great value Kilner jars, starting from £1.50. Alternatively, you could fill the jar with date ideas to do together throughout the year written on lollipop sticks or heart shaped cards.
If you don’t want to build a date jar yourself, Not On The High Street has this ready made date box, with a date idea for every week of the year for £25.
2. Personalised Treats
Nothing screams I love you like a present that has had the thought put into it for it to be personalised. From cushions emblazoned with lyrics from your song, to items embodying your favourite memories, it’s sure to be appreciated.
A great idea I spotted was a picture frame, capturing the places you met your partner, married them and where you live now. You can find similar products online, or If you have an old map, you could make this yourself. Just find the location of your special event on a map, cut it out in the shape of a heart, or perhaps the initial of your partner, and pop it in a photo frame.
3. A Little Book of Love
This may seem cheesy to some people, but it can go a long way. It’s sometimes easy to forget to let someone know how much you love them, but writing down kind words and phrases in a sweet pocket-sized notebook will be something to check back on when they need a reminder. I made one of these for Kieran when we first dated – the notebook was from Paperchase and I used a silver gel pen to write various things, from simple “I love you’s”, to our own silly sayings, he loved flicking through it knowing I’d spent the time making it. This sparkly notebook is just £8 in Paperchase.
4. A Simple Bouquet of Flowers
Most girls love a bouquet, but at Valentine’s prices sky rocket. Just because you don’t spend £30 on red roses, doesn’t mean the flowers aren’t beautiful. Why not choose 2 cheaper bunches, perhaps a selection of red, white and pink flowers, wrapped in red tissue paper.
If you do have the money to splash out, traditional red roses are a winner, but why not try other romantic flowers such as peonies which are much more vintage, or for the modern girl, Stargazer Lillies.
5. A Favourite Tipple
I know I would love this and I’m tempted to send myself some love after seeing this exciting collection! Of course you can’t go wrong with pink Champagne or Honey Jack, but what about a selection of English Gins? This set from John Lewis for £18, encompasses 3 Gins made exclusively in England by independent companies. Pair it with a delicious bottle of Fever Tree tonic and you’re on to a winner.
6. A Romantic Fragrance
We all want our loved one to smell great, and it’s perfect for them to apply before you head out on a date.
For her, try the flirtatious floral scent of the new Michael Kors, Sexy Blossom, which entwines the spring scents of luxurious peonies and orchids.
For him, try the seductive Hugo Boss, The Scent. Ginger and leather mix with other notes, creativing a captivating fragrance.
7. A Bag for the Fashionista or Gym Goer
Perhaps to indicate it needs packing for a romantic mini break, or just to use everyday. This gorgeous leather bag for her is from Guess for £44.50, perfect for lunch with the girls.
This gents bag is perfect for the gym enthusiast for £50 from Red Herring at Debenhams, great for stashing your change of clothes and water bottle.
