Welcome to Blogmas Day 11!
Is there anything much more Christmassy than the scent of freshly baked gingerbread? I think not!
I already had all these ingredients in my house much to my surprise so I thought, why not? It was so easy to make and the house smells great!
For this recipe you will need…
- 350g Plain Flour
- 1 tsp bicarbonate soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ginger
- 175 brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp golden syrup
- Stir the flour, soda, cinnamon and ginger together so it’s well mixed. Add the butter and blend until it has a breadcrumb texture. Stir the sugar in.
- In a separate jug or bowl, whisk together the syrup and egg. Pour into the dry mixture and combine until a dough is formed. Gently knead the dough and the pop in the fridge for 15 minutes.
- Preheat an oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with grease proof paper.
- Use a cookie cutter (I went for bells, stars, angels and Christmas trees) and cut out as many shapes as you can. Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes or until golden. Leave to cool on a wire rack.
So if you don’t mind me, I’m off to go eat a few more of these! They’d look great in a box or tin to take to a friend’s if you’re visiting anyone this season!
